Green Homes Grant closes applications 31 March 2021. What does that mean for skills funding?

FUNDING FOR SKILLS, TRAINING AND QMS IS STILL HERE!

The recent news that applications for Green Homes Grant will close from 31st March 2021 does not impact Eco Academy’s funded training to aid installers in gaining competency so that they can install under PAS 2030.

The current GHG scheme is closing due a need for a review.

Other funding schemes are still running successfully, such as ECO3 and LAFlex and increasingly public and private sector contracts are requesting that the installer organisation is PAS 2030 certified.

Although the Green Homes Grant scheme will be stopped in the next few days so that it can be reviewed. BEIS have released a statement to providers who deliver funded training which states:

We will refocus efforts and funding on an alternative approach to maximise the delivery of home retrofits and benefits to consumers and businesses.

I would like to reiterate that investing in these skills and training remains a key priority for us.

The Local Authority Delivery scheme, Energy Company Obligation and the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund require many of the same skills and training as the Green Home Grant Voucher Scheme.”

Up-skilling and re-skilling for the future

It is vital that up-skilling and re-skilling of individuals in the energy efficiency retrofit market continues so that all existing and future schemes benefit from qualified and competent people over the coming years.
